Graphic Design

Graphic Design shapes our visual and social culture. The fundamentals of graphic design—exciting ideas, effective communication, and historical context—are essential to everyone working in the field. The Graphic Design Professional Sequence offers a study of timeless design principles, and principles, accompanied by an appreciation of historical and current design trends.

Program Requirements:

This program consists of four required courses and two elective courses. All coursework must be taken within two years for a letter grade with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and no grade lower than a C. A certificate is awarded upon completion of the program. There are no waivers, substitutions or transfers.

The required courses in their recommended sequence are
Graphic Design Studio I X30
Graphic Design Studio II X43 (offered fall 2008)
Graphic Design Studio III X411
Graphic Design Studio IV: Portfolio X434 (offered fall 2008)

Registration Procedure

We recommend that you register for the professional sequence before you begin your second course in the program. To register, please (1) complete and submit the Program Registration Form or (2) print out and complete the form at www.unex.berkeley.edu/info/cert.php. Mail or fax it as it indicates, and include the nonrefundable registration fee. Professional sequence registration cannot be taken by phone.

Requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the program in a timely fashion.
