What's the difference between being a good writer and being a good
editor? Editors serve the important need of ensuring that written
communication is of publication quality. What do you need to know
to meet professional editing standards? Whether you want to develop
a rewarding editing career, rise to a managing position in publishing,
or master the editorial components of a related profession,
the Professional Sequence in Editing can help turn your editorial
sensibilities into marketable skills.

Requirements
The program consists of four required
courses, for a total of eight semester units and
120 hours of instruction. All coursework must
be completed within three years with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and no grade lower
than C. Waivers or substitutions will be considered only on an exceptional basis.
A certificate of completion is awarded on completion of the program.

Registration Procedure
We recommend that you register for the professional sequence before you begin your third course in the program. To register, please (1) complete and submit the
Program Registration Form or (2) print out and complete the form at
www.unex.berkeley.edu/cert/cert.pdf. Mail or fax it as it indicates, and include the nonrefundable registration fee. Professional sequence registration cannot be taken by phone.
Requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the program in a timely fashion.
Completing the Program
