UC Berkeley Extension's six-course professional program teaches biopharmaceutical-specific project management processes and offers exposure to the latest professional trends in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostics industries. The program uses your existing skills and experience to advance or shift your career in the booming field of biopharmaceutical project management.
The program is recognized and supported by the Northern California Project Management Pharmaceutical Specific Interest Group (
PharmaSIG).

About the Program
The professional sequence can be completed in two semesters. It consists of six two-day courses that may be taken in any order. Class meetings may include lectures, discussions, exercises, case studies, problem sets, and student projects.
Who Should Attend
Experienced project managers and scientific employees who want to become project managers.
Program Requirements
To earn a certificate of completion, students must complete all required courses with a Pass
OR must earn a C or better in all courses taken for a grade.

Recommended Experience OR Coursework
Before starting the program students should have experience in
BOTH the drug development process and project planning and control
OR complete the following courses:
- Bioscience Essentials for Industry Professionals (3.4 ceu) (offered fall 2009)
- The Drug Development Process (2.8 ceu) (offered fall 2009)
- X470 Project Management (2 semester units in Business Administration)*
