Oxford/Berkeley Program
July 7-26, 2008

Are You Merton Material?

For over 37 years, people like you—teachers, doctors, lawyers, homemakers, and other professionals—have slipped the bonds of their routine lives and transformed themselves into Oxford University scholars. During the three-week session, your seminar group meets every weekday morning with your instructor. The afternoons are free for independent study in one of the university's many libraries or perhaps under a tree in a beautiful garden.

Timeless College … Updated Courses for 2008

You live and study at Merton College. Established in the thirteenth century, Merton is an archetypal Oxford college, with medieval architecture, picturesque gargoyles, and mullioned windows that look out on ancient quads.

You select one of 12 seminars, ranging in subject from William Morris to Shakespeare to the Royal Navy. Each seminar is limited to 12 participants and is taught by a university don. Before arriving, you receive a reading list that helps you prepare for the course of study you have chosen.

We hope that you will become a part of the long tradition of intellectual excellence that characterizes the Oxford/Berkeley Program.

Limited Availability for 2008

We look forward to making sure you have a satisfying, enjoyable, and deeply stimulating experience at Oxford. We still have a limited number of openings for 2008, so we encourage you to call Joan Churchill at (510) 642-3824, or send us an e-mail at travel@unex.berkeley.edu, to confirm availability before you submit your application.
