UC Berkeley Extension Summer Registration Now Open
New Programs and Courses Offered in Berkeley, San Francisco and Around the Bay Area
BERKELEY – Registration opens today at UC Berkeley Extension for hundreds of summer classes. From art history to biotechnology to C++ programming, from Viking mythology to wealth management, subject choices abound in courses beginning every week around the Bay Area and online.
Literature aficionados can delve into such perennial favorites as American Fiction, Shakespeare, and The English Novel. Or they can explore one of several intriguing new courses: Epic Encounters pairs readings of the The Odyssey, The Aeneid, and Lord of the Rings with viewings of their cinema renderings. A course on Anton Chekhov highlights the nineteenth-century master’s stories and plays.
For the commerce-inclined who want to improve their marketing savvy, new classes cover such critical topics as marketing communications for small business, e-marketing, and how to develop profitable new products and services.
Working adults considering applying to medical and healthcare professional schools can improve their credentials and get critical assistance with this complex process. The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program and the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Professions Program offer comprehensive coursework, advising, and guidance for gaining admission to schools of choice.
Artists and designers have a wide selection from which to choose. Along with new courses in subjects ranging from sustainable design to digital photography are well-established programs in art history, graphic design, interior design, and more.
Extension hosts regular free information sessions for the public, where instructors and staff answer questions about the advantages of particular courses and certificate programs. There are many sessions offered this summer.
UC Berkeley Extension’s new catalog of courses is online now at www.unex.berkeley.edu/cat. Print versions are available at Extension's regional centers, or by request from 1-888-UC-SMART (888-827-6278). Courses start every week, year-round.
Founded in 1891, UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education branch of the University of California Berkeley. Today, Extension offers 1,500 courses each year, including award-winning online courses, free public lectures, more than 30 certificate programs and customized contract training.
