UC Berkeley Extension Spring Registration Now Open

New Programs and Courses Offered in Berkeley, San Francisco and Around the Bay Area

BERKELEY – Hundreds of spring classes open for registration today at UC Berkeley Extension. Courses in everything from American fiction to biochemistry to graphic design, from urban ecology to the wines of Italy, will be held beginning every week this spring around the Bay Area and online.

Along with old favorites are scores of new courses and programs. For the art inclined, new courses created jointly with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Berkeley Art Museum provide chances to see firsthand the works discussed in class. Exhibitions such as the acclaimed Picasso and American Art and The Measure of Time tie in with spring courses.

Project management programs have a new addition: the Professional Sequence in Project Management for Biopharmaceuticals. Aspiring managers in this high-growth field can now acquire the needed expertise in both project management and the drug development process.

Professionals in the behavioral sciences have much to choose from this spring. Courses in the latest psychopharmacology advances, the links between sex addiction and co-morbid conditions, and counseling teenagers are among the debut offerings.

Writers seeking new creative outlets can choose from freshly minted courses in humor writing, memoir and personal essay. To learn economy of character and plot development, writers can try their hand at The Ten-Minute Play.

Extension hosts regular free information sessions for the public, where instructors and staff answer questions about the advantages of particular courses and certificate programs. There are many sessions offered this spring.

UC Berkeley Extension’s new catalog of courses is online now at www.unex.berkeley.edu/cat. Print versions are available at Extension's regional centers, or by request from 1-888-UC-SMART (888-827-6278). Courses start every week, year-round.

Founded in 1891, UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education branch of the University of California Berkeley. Today, Extension offers 1,500 courses each year, including award-winning online courses, free public lectures, more than 30 certificate programs and customized contract training.
