You can be part of the exciting community of innovative education and training in the Evening Certificate Programs at UC Berkeley Extension. These long-term programs are offered in diverse topics, from business administration to interior design. An Evening Certificate Program allows you to explore a given subject in depth because most programs take from one to three years to complete. And because the majority of your classmates are Americans, you have the valuable opportunity to expand your knowledge of U.S. culture and customs as you and your classmates work together.
The Evening Certificate Programs are an ideal choice for many different kinds of international students, including
- recent university graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in their field of choice
- professionals already working in the U.S. who wish to expand their skills
- spouses of visiting scholars or other J-2 visa holders
Your classes will meet mainly in the evenings and on weekends, and will be held in one or more of UC Berkeley Extension's Bay Area
locations, including Berkeley, San Francisco, and Redwood City.
Academic Excellence
Each course in the Evening Certificate Programs has been reviewed by the relevant academic department at UC Berkeley, assuring it meets our standards. These high standards attract expert instructors who are leaders in their field. UC Berkeley Extension instructors are chosen not only for their academic backgrounds, but also for their experience. Our instructors emphasize practical skills and knowledge, ensuring that you receive a solid, useful experience.
At UC Berkeley Extension, our goal is to give you a chance to fulfill your potential and prepare for your future. Completing an Evening Certificate Program as part of a talented, motivated community of students can help you face that future with confidence.

Each of the program descriptions includes the minimum time required for you to complete the program. It may take you longer to complete your specific program of study. Required or elective courses may not be offered every term, may be canceled, or may fill before you enroll. Once you have been accepted to a program, you are assigned an academic adviser who helps you plan your study schedule. You can read more about this in "
