Interior Design and Interior Architecture
Blend creative expression and practical application in a career in Interior Design and Interior Architecture. As the area's only part-time program accredited by Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), you learn the ropes from top Bay-Area professionals through a series of 29 courses. Introductory courses are open to all adults who are curious about the profession and those who are interested in learning the basics of design and representation.

Introduction to Interior Design introduces the profession, its history, and its related specialties and disciplines by studying the work of past and present designers and architects. (No prior training necessary)

Principles and Elements of Design explores the basic principles of balance, harmony, rhythm, emphasis, contrast, proportion, scale, unity, and variety with a series of projects. (No prior training necessary)

New! Revit introduces students to the basic principles in Revit® building information modeling (BIM) and its uses in the design process.

Lighting Design introduces basic lighting design concepts through study of the aesthetic values of light, shadow, and color. It also covers technical aspects of lighting, including light sources, fixtures, installation, and energy codes.

Kitchen Design teaches the fundamentals of designing a well-designed kitchen including research on appliances, materials selection, and lighting.

Featured Certificate
Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior Architecture offers design education that combines studio courses with the study of design theory, history, presentation skills, and resources. The program is CIDA (formerly FIDER) certified and takes three to four years to complete.
