You will need to submit a copy of your exam scores to the Fall Program for Freshmen (FPF) to confirm your enrollment in a Reading & Composition (R&C) course.
Please fax or mail photocopies of these documents to:
Fall Program for Freshmen

Exam Score Deadline: July 25
You may have had Advanced Placement (AP) English, SAT, or other test scores sent directly to UC Berkeley; the testing board will not send copies to the Fall Program for Freshmen (FPF). We are a separate office and do not have access to those documents. You will need to send a photocopy to the FPF office, even if you did not receive a passing score.
We require copies of one of the following to verify your placement in an R&C class:
>> See how scores affect your R&C requirement
Note: We do not need math scores or transcripts to place you in Math & Statistics or Breadth courses. Please select those courses by following the instructions on this website.
>> See Math & Statistics requirement
You may not receive your AP scores until after the Course Selection Form deadline on June 2. Please mark the R&C course on your Course Selection Form that you feel best suits your level, and send your scores as soon as you receive them.
If we do not receive your scores by July 25, we may not have space in the appropriate R&C course for your level, and you will have to wait until spring semester to take an R&C course.
Assuming we have received copies of the appropriate test scores by the deadline (noted above), we will mail your course schedule to you in mid-August. If you haven't received your course schedule by Aug. 15, it's likely because we did not receive the scores, exams, or transcripts we needed to finalize your schedule. You will be able to pick up a copy of your fall schedule at the FPF office on August 25 or August 26.
FPF does not need a copy of your high school transcripts, unless they have your latest AP or SAT exam scores. We only need exam scores, or transcripts of college-level coursework, that affect your Reading and Composition placement.
