"It helped me to better get to know business practices here in the U.S."

Suggestion for students:

How have the IDPs helped you in your career?
"From a student life in France I became a professional in the United States. The IDP turned out to be a stepping stone for my career. The educational as well as personal endeavor at Berkeley paid off. The international experience, with students from all over the world, and the professionalism of the instructors have been a strong base for my career."

IDP Internship Experience
"I started my internship in January 2005 with Alupka Asset Management in San Francisco. The program is a discretionary directional trading model investing in the U.S. equity market through stocks and options. The experience at Alupka has been helpful for my current career. Not only has it helped me to figure out which industry I wanted to work with but it also taught me a lot on the U.S. alternative money management model."

The best thing about the IDPs:
"I liked best the association of study, work, and the international environment. The most important is the eventual reward from the experience. I have managed to step in a new work field and make friends in every continent on earth."

The best thing about the IDPs:
"The academic excellence combined with a vibrant and fascinating life outside of the classroom make Berkeley a truly incredible place to learn and live."

Suggestions for students:
"I strongly recommend going for the Internship after the Diploma Program. Also, visit the Silicon Valley area to see world-class companies like Google, Yahoo, and Intel."

Wai-Yee Chin

Malaysia
Project manager, telecommunications

IDP Attended
Project Management (2004)

How have the IDPs helped you in your career?
"Currently, I work as a project manager in a telecommunications company. My knowledge and experience gained from the IDP helps me a lot in my career. I was an engineer before I attended the IDP program. The project manager plays an important role in project implementation, and my country is lacking in qualified project managers. I got a few great job offers from multinational companies based in Malaysia before I even finished my internship."

Suggestion for students:
"Open your mind and enjoy your life in Berkeley. You will learn a lot of from the people around you."
