Project Management

The Certificate Program in Project Management prepares you to effectively manage projects to completion on time, under budget, and within scope. The highly interactive program applies theories of project management to real-world practices applicable to all industries and fields. The program's six core courses cover the full scope of project management tasks, including contract management, quality management, project risk management, and team dynamics. Additional optional courses offer insight into specific advanced topics in project management.
Project Management Institute®
Many of our project management courses apply toward professional development units
(pdu) for the Project Management Institute (PMI provider #1173).
UC Berkeley Extension is a recognized provider registered with the Project
Management Institute Registered Educational Provider Program
(PMI R.E.P.). UC Berkeley Extension accepts and adheres to all PMI R.E.P.
program policies, requirements, and rules concerning the provision of professional education
activities and materials.
Requirements
The curriculum consists of six required courses,
for a total of 14 semester units and 210 hours of instruction.

Further study
We strongly suggest you take additional courses in project management, communication and
leadership to complement the required curriculum. You may take these courses
for semester units or continuing education units, or on a pass/fail basis. These classes are not required for the certificate.

Registration procedure
We recommend that you register for the certificate program before you begin your third course in the program. To register, please (1) complete and submit the
Program Registration Form or (2) print out and complete the form at
www.unex.berkeley.edu/info/cert.php. Mail or fax it as it indicates, and include the nonrefundable registration fee. Certificate registration cannot be taken by phone.
Requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the program in a timely fashion.
Grading policy
All courses must be taken for a letter grade. A grade point average of 2.5 is required in order to
earn the certificate, and each course must be completed with a grade of C or better. If you
maintain a 3.5 grade point average you will be awarded a Certificate with Distinction.
Time to complete the program
You are expected to complete the course requirements for the certificate within five years of completing Project Management X470. Please
notify us via e-mail when you receive your final grade report. After verifying completion of all
coursework and requirements, we will award
your certificate.
Substitution of courses
Certificate candidates may substitute up to two courses taken at another institution for certificate
requirements. The substituted course(s) must be equivalent
in subject matter and academic credit and must
be offered by an accredited college or university.
The substituted course(s) must have been taken during the past five years with a grade of B or better and must be supported by an official transcript.
Substitutions must be approved in writing by UC Berkeley Extension; e-mail the program office for guidelines.

Alliances for Enhanced Learning
