A requirement in the Certificate in Management programThis course defines leadership and teaches how power, authority, influence, and tradition converge in the hands of a skilled leader. You learn a conceptual framework for practicing effective leadership, how and when to apply the different elements of leadership, how to negotiate, how to use power and influence in the absence of formal authority, and how to promote organizational commitment and optimism through enhanced leadership skills.

ELIE ASMAR, M.S.E., PMP, CKM, named Honored Instructor in 2005, is co-founder and president of Interpro.com, a project knowledge management corporation. He leads teams of project professionals in developing and implementing strategic initiatives for global organizations in the semiconductor, information technology, and biotechnology industries. Asmar has extensive experience in executive and engineering management and training. He conducts seminars in project knowledge management, leadership, negotiation, and business ethics in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. Asmar has served on panels of mediators and arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. He is the president of the French American Council on Technology and a past president of the Project Management Institute in Northern California. Asmar is an active member of the Alliance of CEOs, the Conference Board, the National Association of Corporate Directors, and the American Association of University Professors.Revised class schedule in red.
