Model Making
X428.4 (2 semester units in Architecture)
Interior designers and architects use scale models as expressive tools during the conceptual design and presentation phases of a project. This studio course develops the ability to solve interior design problems in three dimensions quickly and efficiently through the use of scale models. Students learn innovative model-building techniques, how to use affordable materials and basic tools, and the finishes and textural surfaces that simulate actual project materials. Course projects range from models of furniture design to the design of a complete interior space. Demonstrations and slide-illustrated presentations by instructors and guest lecturers convey the knowledge and skills to create the three-dimensional representation of any space.
