Graphic Design Studio III
X411 (2 semester units in Design)
This advanced course simulates the demands of the contemporary design market. You refine your design and presentation skills by working on a complex project involving multiple components. You develop and produce design proposals for a specific "real-world" project involving two and three dimensions.
Working in teams, you create an appropriate goal, timeline, and final presentation for a dynamic design identity program. This approach to understanding graphic design allows you to learn and apply problem-solving techniques and develop the presentation and team skills professionals employ to work with clients.
The instructor selects and facilitates the design project and leads group and individual critiques of student work. The course includes occasional field trips and guest lecturers who speak on recent trends in the design field.
Prerequisites: Graphic Design Studio I and II.

CHRIS ROBERTS, B.A., interest in design was born out of a love for comic books, album covers, candy wrappers, and space toys. As the founder of Rocketderby, Roberts used his juvenile interests to provide art and design services to some of the biggest names in fun, such as Disney and Warner Bros. Now in the Bay Area, he's trying his hand at grown-up work for Pottery Barn.
