Building Construction and Systems for Interior Architecture
X413.2 (3 semester units in Architecture)
This course introduces building components, systems, and processes, and the sequence of construction in residential and commercial buildings. You learn how the various building systems–plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental controls–are integrated into the design and construction process to provide a safe, healthy, and appropriate environment for human activity.
Enrollment is limited.Prerequisite: Studio I: Conceptual Design, Residential and Commercial X408.1, or consent of instructor.

TODD POLISKIN, B.A., a practicing architect for 20 years, earned his degree from the University of Oregon in 1987 before venturing on a three-year architectural odyssey across Europe and the former Soviet Union, including a visit to Jerusalem. Returning to the U.S. in 1990, Poliskin formed Studio Archeon, a design collaborative in Venice, Calif. In 1998, he joined Kahn Design Associates, a Berkeley architecture firm. As principal in charge of production, Poliskin mentors young designers and architects.Revised class schedule in red.
