X128 (2 semester units in Public Health)
Political and social contexts shape our views about and responses to drug use. This course explores the cultural and historical roots of evolving alcohol and drug policy in American society. Traditional substance-abuse service systems are investigated, as are critiques of the "war on drugs," and pressures to reform and innovate.
