Studio L4: Environmental Analysis and Design

X407 (4 semester units in Landscape Architecture)

This course emphasizes a multidisciplinary design approach by integrating data from the natural sciences, economics, sociology, and other fields that influence the design and development of the landscape. Class projects involve a series of progressive steps in which regional considerations together with large amounts of contextual information can first be comprehended and analyzed, and then creatively addressed in the form of a comprehensive master plan. Enrollment is limited.

Note: At the first class meeting, students must submit up to five samples of work showing drafting and design skills to the instructor. These samples should be on sheets no larger than 11" x 17" (reductions of larger work are acceptable), and each should be labeled with the student's name and phone number. Students must successfully complete all prerequisites and exhibit adequate skills to be admitted to the course.

Prerequisites: All courses leading up to and including Studio L3: Advanced Landscape Architectural Design X408 and Professional Practice in Landscape Architecture X427.
