Integrating Computer Technologies into the Curriculum

Fulfills the Computer Education Level II requirement for California teaching credentialsThis course focuses on teaching and learning in a wide range of classroom environments, from technology-rich to technology-poor. It provides an overview of current computer-based technologies and covers ethical and legal issues. Participants begin to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively integrate these tools into diverse curricula.
Upon completing the course, they will be able to create effective environments in order to enhance learning and teaching and to prepare students for lives of personal, academic, and professional growth and achievement in a global community. Course projects include creating a webpage and designing an electronic lesson plan.
This course may be used to fulfill the Level 2 computer competency requirement for the Multiple and/or Single Subject Teaching Credential on application to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with computer basics such as toolbars, the mouse, copying, saving, and so on. In addition, participants should have basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, simple e-mail functions, and searching the Internet.

She specializes in teaching ways to integrate multimedia into the K-12 core curriculum. She also directs in-class coaching sessions that offer educators hands-on experience, direction, and new teaching strategies. She is the principal creator and director of digital media company Making Movie Memories.
