Children's Picture Book Writing Workshop
X471 (1 semester unit in English)
This six-week course introduces basic information about the craft of writing for children and the business of publishing children's picture books. The goal is to produce one picture-book manuscript, get feedback, and work to strengthen the story with revision. There are weekly assignments, and half of the class time is dedicated to critiquing student work. The course provides an overview of the editing, agenting, and publishing process. Students should bring two favorite children's books to the first meeting and be prepared to discuss them.
