AutoCAD for Landscape Architecture: Level I
X428 (2 semester units in Landscape Architecture)
Participants are introduced to CAD techniques that can be used to augment traditional drafting skills. Lectures and demonstrations show you how to create landscape architectural drawings with the computer using AutoCAD. Students learn how to create a landscape architectural design project using AutoCAD commands and feature sets, dimensioning styles, and text styles.
The instructor demonstrates how to use layers, linetypes, and color to organize and display one's drawings effectively for plotting. Students also learn how to use AutoCAD commands to draw and edit objects, to develop a symbol library, and use drafting skills to organize spaces, create text styles, add textural attributes for notes, and apply dimensions.
Software specific to the needs of landscape architects, such as Architectural Desktop and Land Desktop, is explored on a limited basis. Students need to schedule time outside the class in the CAD open lab in order to complete your homework projects.
This course replaces Introduction to Computer-Aided Drafting for Designers: CAD Level I X437 for students in the Certificate Program in Landscape Architecture.
Note: Bring a USB Flash, Jump, or Stick drive to the first class.
Prerequisites: Landscape Graphics I X15, Landscape Graphics II X17, and working knowledge of PCs.
