Space Planning
X413.8 (3 semester units in Architecture)
In this course, you practice and gain experience developing programs that satisfy your clients' needs and make the best use of available space. You learn techniques for assimilating client project information, analyzing program requirements, and developing schematic space-planning solutions. Building codes, fire safety, and barrier-free designs are an essential part of this course.
Prerequisite: Drafting X412.2, AutoCAD X437.

EDWIN WALTERS, CCID, NCIDQ, attended the Academy of Art University and received his certificate in interior design and interior architecture from UC Berkeley Extension. He has practiced with leading Bay Area design firms for the past 10 years and is an interior designer/project manager for SmithGroup, in its Workplace Practice studio.
