Intermediate Perl Programming
X401 (1 semester unit in EECS)
An elective in the Certificate Program in UNIX/Linux System Administration and in the Professional Sequence in Database ManagementThis hands-on course is designed to maximize your ability to integrate various computer technologies using Perl. All the major intermediate features of Perl are covered, including subroutines, reports, functions, CGI, data structures, references, special variables, and Perl as Web database integration interface (DBI). Class sessions focus on concepts, theory, and case studies, supplemented with lab exercises that guide you to mastery of essential skills through a series of successful interactions with Perl. If you are an IT professional, system administrator, or Web developer who needs to learn this extensible Web programming language, you should benefit from this practical, hands-on approach.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Perl Programming X416.7 or equivalent experience. Familiarity with HTML and SQL is recommended but not required.
