Counseling and Psychotherapy as a Career Option
This workshop guides you through the myriad of training and licensing options available for mental health professionals and provides an overview of what psychotherapy and counseling actually entail. No previous experience or training is necessary.
Designed to provide you with information as well as a support group, the workshop covers topics ranging from comparison of the various licenses and financial realities to multicultural issues and theoretical orientations. Group discussions help you to examine the hopes, fears, motivations, fantasies, myths, and realities of the profession. You also complete and discuss a personal inventory designed to aid your self-assessment for a career in mental health.
An extensive course reader is available and included in the course fee. Guest speakers include a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed psychologist.
