X458.4 (1 semester unit in EECS)
15 pdu: PMI provider #1173
A requirement in the Professional Sequence in Software Project ManagementThis course presents an overview of the life cycle of a software product, from inception to rollout, as a framework for a practical approach to successful management of a software project through all its phases. You first get an overview of the software project life cycle, then examine team member roles, look at issues that affect different team members, and define target customers.
You cover project tasks and timelines as well as strategies for dealing with limited time and resources. You learn about effective documentation of all life cycle phases, including design, implementation, quality assurance, and project release. You examine strategies for responding to changing project requirements.
You consider software bugs, how to prioritize them in the overall project cycle, and what to do when there may not be enough time to fix all the bugs prior to release. You also learn how to prepare customer support specialists. The course concludes with discussion of the product release and post-release issues.
