Sustainability Leadership—Strategies and Paradigms

X419 (1 semester unit in College of Natural Resources)

A requirement in the Professional Program in Responsible Global Change Management and Professional Program in Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting

Learn the fundamental qualities, attributes and competencies to be an effective sustainability leader. This course teaches you how to determine whether your company is organized in a sustainable manner. It also helps you understand what is required of you as a leader when the demands of declining resources affect your company's bottom line. You learn how to effectively communicate sustainability in your work environments, link green initiatives to cost savings and brand recognition, and engage shareholders and stakeholders in making decisions that move individuals, teams, and companies towards sustainability.

MIRIAM KARELL, B.S., M.S.L.S., draws on ten years of experience designing practical strategies that address profound change in organizations. She is trained in The Natural Step, Integral Theory, and systems thinking, and holds a master's in 'Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability' and a B.S. in environmental engineering. She assists her clients in setting up green teams, developing sustainability programs, leadership trainings and acquiring green certification.
