Assessment and Treatment of Bipolar Disorders

An elective in the Professional Program in the Treatment of Mood DisordersBipolar disorders have a prevalence of up to 5 percent in the general population and up to 25 percent of anxious and depressed patients seen in primary-care settings. This workshop focuses on current diagnostic and assessment approaches to bipolar disorders. Up-to-date psychosocial approaches are reviewed. There is also an overview of the pharmacological treatment of bipolar disorder.
Guest speaker: David A. Donovan, Ph. D., is a clinical psychologist in private practice in San Francisco specializing in treatment of bipolar disorder, and is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF.
