Community Design & Internship
X401.7 (2 semester units in Landscape Architecture)
Advanced students gain hands-on experience working on real projects for Bay Area communities in this nine-week internship course sponsored by Urban Ecology. Students learn how urban planning, ecology, and public participation help design and build healthier cities. Students spend one workday per week addressing all issues of this nonprofit as they work on different projects and learn the benefits and process of community design (one of the most hands-on, interactive, and integrated ways of working in the field of landscape architecture). Students also attend weekly lectures to discuss and review their projects.
