The Hand and Eye: Exploring Drawing and Photography
X433.5 (2 semester units in Art)
Drawing and photography have always been closely related–the word photography means, literally, "light drawing." In this course, you explore the historical and contemporary relationship between drawing and photography through "hands-on" creative projects, using simple optics, montage, alternative photo processes, mixed media, and more–as well as short readings, slide lectures, and discussions. This is a great class for artists who want to use photography in their work, and for photographers who want to learn how to draw.
Prerequisite: Drawing Fundamentals X405 or consent of instructor.
