Working with Dually Diagnosed Clients
(1.2 ceu)
12 hours CE credit: BRN, LCSW/MFT, CAADAC, and psychologists
The co-occurrence of mental health and substance use disorders is increasingly the norm in clinical work. This workshop addresses this change in culture and reviews research-based practices and controversial issues such as the use of medication. Interventions targeted to dually diagnosed clients, including Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment and Substance Abuse Management Module, are presented along with how evidence-based practices, such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, can be modified to address both substance and mental health problems.
