(1.2 ceu)
12 hours CE credit: BRN, LCSW/MFT, CAADAC, and psychologists
An elective in the Certificate Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse StudiesEstimates suggest that the majority of all mental health clients also have a coexisting substance-use disorder. Unfortunately, coexisting conditions are often missed. Learn to recognize dual diagnosis in your clients so you can provide them with integrated treatment services that address substance use and other psychiatric disorders. You study the concept of dual diagnosis and examine relationships between addictive behavior and coexisting psychopathology. You then explore common impediments to assessment and effective treatment, examining approaches designed to overcome these impediments.
