HANDS-ON
Advanced E-Mail and Online Marketing
(0.8 ceu)
Today your e-mail programs have to do much more than they were expected to even a
year ago. You must be able to send large numbers of e-mails, without getting blacklisted, and be able to track delivery, response and unique click-through rates, often in real-time. Your e-mails must also be able to pass through many different types of spam filters while at the same time display and function consistently across numerous e-mail-browser display combinations.
The first part of the course will cover e-mail design and coding best practices crucial to making your e-mails pass through content-filters, while maintaining excellent cross-browser compatibility. Real life e-mail examples will be provided and analyzed. Students may bring an e-mail example of their own for evaluation.
The second part of this course provides you with a hands-on demonstration of three popular permission-based e-mail broadcast-technology solutions: ExactTarget, MessageREACH, and DREAMmail. Using these technologies, you will learn how to set up auto-response messaging and how to manage removals, bounces, and undeliverable e-mails. You will be shown how these tools interact with databases and how to download and interpret reports. When you leave the class, you will know what to look for when purchasing your own e-mail broadcast utility.
