An elective in the Professional Program in the Study of Loss and Grief and the Professional Program in Child and Adolescent TreatmentThis workshop is of interest to a range of professionals who work with teens in the wake of a severe loss, be it through sudden death or violence in the family, the school or community, or other losses frequently experienced by urban teens. You learn to differentiate the adolescent-grief response specific to the circumstances and examine the structure of adolescent grief from a developmental and family-systems point of view, as well as from a community perspective.
Guest Speaker: LaShonda Taylor is the education coordinator for the Contra Costa Crisis Center.

ERIKA MASLAN, M.A., LMFT, has nearly 30 years of clinical practice. She is an experienced trainer on the psychological and social impact of life-threatening illness, including anticipatory as well as actual loss and grief. She is a candidate for Ph.D. in psychology.
