Determining Federal Wetlands Jurisdiction

An elective in the Certificate Program in California Water Management and Ecosystem RestorationThis intensive four-day course examines the application of the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation methodology and subsequent agency guidelines used to delineate U.S. wetland boundaries to include the latest regional guidance supplement for the Arid West. You analyze wetland sites varying in difficulty from the most basic to the very difficult as you develop state-of-the-art, hands-on experience. Field trips include a range of wetland habitats within the San Francisco Bay Delta area.

TERRY HUFFMAN, Ph.D., is principal of Huffman-Broadway Group in San Rafael. He worked as chief technical wetlands scientist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he developed the wetlands definition currently in use nationally by the Corps and the Environmental Protection Agency.
