Painting, Drawing, and the Photograph
X442 (2 semester units in Art)
Since the invention of photography, artists have used photographs as inspiration for their imagery. Explore concepts of composition, perspective, light, color, and gesture by working with family photos, print media, snapshots, and staged photographs with models and props. Learn how to use the camera as a tool when working in pencil, pastel, acrylic, and oil paints.
Prerequisite: Painting Fundamentals X410 or consent of instructor.

DONALD BRADFORD, M.F.A., has taught drawing and painting at UC Santa Barbara and at the Academy of Art College, San Francisco. He is represented by K. Kimpton Gallery, San Francisco, and has exhibited solo at Laguna Beach Art Museum. He is the principal illustrator and co-owner of Room Creative Designs in Berkeley.
