Mixed Media Painting
X440 (2 semester units in Art)
Creative possibilities multiply for an artist when combining painting, drawing, and collage in the same piece. Building on your basic artistic skills, you are introduced to various painting and drawing methods, textural effects, and collage techniques that encourage improvisation and experimentation in your work. The instructor demonstrates the use of water-based painting media and their combination with drawing media, including pencil, charcoal, and ink, and with the use of collage. Slide-illustrated lectures explore the use of mixed media by contemporary artists.
