Chinese Brush Painting

This studio course introduces the fascinating world of Chinese brush painting with demonstrations of the traditional tools and methods, slide-illustrated lectures on the history and symbolism of Chinese watercolor masterpieces, and class assignments that encourage you to express your individual sense of form, style, and color using
mei, zhu, she, and
lai techniques. With the guidance of the instructor, an award-winning Chinese calligrapher and painter, you learn to expressively convey the intelligence and deep appreciation of nature integral to Chinese painting.

AIQIN ZHOU, M.F.A., has taught Chinese calligraphy and painting throughout the Bay Area. Her work has been included in solo exhibits in the United States and Europe, featured on CNN and PBS, and displayed at the residence of the emperor of Japan. Her paintings and calligraphy have won top awards at international competitions in Taiwan, Japan, and China.
